Free Home Insulation

The Great British Insulation Scheme is a new Government energy efficiency scheme (formerly known as ECO+). It is designed to deliver improvements to the least energy-efficient homes in Great Britain to tackle fuel poverty and help reduce energy bills.

The scheme is aimed at two main groups:

1. Those living in homes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating D-G and within council tax bands A-E in Wales. It is estimated that around 80% of Welsh home meet these qualifying criteria.
2. Householders receiving qualifying benefits and living in homes with an EPC rating of D or below. The qualifying benefits include: Income-Based JSA, Income-Related ESA, Income Support, Pension Guarantee Credit, Working Tax Credits, Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Pension Credit Saving Credits, Child Tax Credits.

• https://www.gov.uk/find-energy-certificate (if your home does not have EPC rating then you are likely to still qualify).

If you’re a tenant and the property you rent qualifies for funding under the scheme, you will be eligible if you’ve got your landlord’s permission. The same applies to social housing tenants.

It will focus mainly on installing low-cost insulation measures including: 

• Loft insulation
• Cavity wall insulation
• Solid wall insulation

Improved insulation will reduce your energy bills.

It is estimated that you could save up to £400 a year by improving your homes insulation.

You may be entitled to other Government Grants to further improve the energy efficiency of your home.

• First time Central Heating for customer who's homes are not powered by gas.
• Free replacement boilers - to replace old and inefficient boilers.

Some of the above schemes are means tested but we'll explore all options when you apply.
